Product Application Use Guidelines

Learn how to best use AZOMITE with your plants and crops

Field Crops

Apply 50 – 400 lbs/acre (or up to 600 lbs/acre if the soil is severely depleted of
minerals). The method and timing of application and placement of the product will determine the rate as well. For example, a broadcast rate of 150lbs/acre, 75 lbs/acre acre banded, and 50 lbs/acre for row application and may be adjusted up or down based on a complete soil sample. Use up to 300 lbs/ acre broadcast for high value crops. It should be applied according to the soil condition, soil test levels, and the value of the crop or plants being grown. Azomite can be applied alone or blended with other fertilizers. It can be broadcast on the soil at any time of year, and banded near the seed line during planting or side-dressing (do not exceed 50 lb/ac as a starter fertilizer or 75 b/ac as a banded near the row side-dress application), for optimum results.” The initial and subsequent Azomite applications can be made once per year or split into two applications. Azomite should be applied every year, in multiple applications and types of applications (i.e. as a seed treatment, and a starter fertilizer, plus in the drip irrigation, for optimal results.

Specialty Vegetable Crops & Gardens

Apply 50 – 400 lbs/acre (or up to 600 lbs/acre if the soil is severely depleted of
minerals). A 300 lb/ac rate is a good average rate to use (this is equal to 0.7 lbs/100 sq ft in a garden). The method and timing of application and placement of the product will determine the rate as well. It should be applied according to the soil condition, soil test levels, and the value of the crop or plants being grown. Azomite can be applied alone or blended with other fertilizers. Small Fruits

Use rates are generally 150 lbs/acre broadcast, 100 lbs/acre banded, 50 lbs/acre for row or trickle irrigation application. Soil and tissue testing should be used to help verify proper rates.

Citrus/Avocados/Fruit Trees/Vines

Apply annually to the soil surface, around and under the drip line (the edge of the leaf caopy), at the rate of 1 to 5 pounds/tree, depending on the tree size, or 200 lb/ac as a general guideline.

Double the application for decline or blight stricken trees.

For grapes, apply 75 – 200 lbs/acre to the soil around each plant using a spinner or row-directed spreader, then lightly till or water/irrigate into the soil.
Azomite Ultrafine or Micronized can also be applied through the trickle irrigation system, with agitation (such as a gypsum machine, etc.), at a rate of 50 lbs/ac/year.

Nursery Stock

For commercial nursery operations rates are generally 150 lbs/acre broadcast, 100 lbs/acre banded, 50 lbs/acre for row or trickle irrigation application. Soil and tissue testing should be used to help verify proper rates.

A rate of 7-10 lbs/cu yd of potting soil may be used when potting or transplanting plants.

For home ornamentals and shrubs, apply 1⁄2 lb. to 1 lb. to the soil around each plant and lightly till or water/irrigate into soil.

Greenhouse

Use AZOMITE® in the potting soil at a rate of 7-10 lbs/cu yd, and add it to the irrigation water when possible, on a weekly basis, at a low rate.

Flower/Plant/Vegetable Gardens

When preparing flower beds or garden soil, use AZOMITE® at the rate of ½ pound per 100 sq ft of soil surface (this equates to 218 pounds per acre). A rate of ½ pound per 200 linear feet of row (6” wide band) provides the same rate.

If the garden or flower bed is established, sprinkle Azomite around each plant and lightly till or water/irrigate into soil.

Houseplants

Mix 1/2 teaspoon per inch of pot diameter with potting soil before planting. Apply 1 teaspoon every three months to the soil surface and water-in thereafter.

Lawns

For existing lawns, apply 3 lb/1,000 sq ft Apply once a year for normal lawns, or split the application in the Spring and Fall for optimal results. For new lawns, apply at 5 lb/1,000 sq ft (a 44 pound bag will cover about 9,000 square feet) and till or water/irrigate into soil before planting seed or laying sod.

For existing home lawns, apply 3 lb / 1,000 sq ft. (a 44 pound bag will cover about 15,000 square feet). Apply once a year for normal lawns, or in the spring and fall for optimal results. For new lawns, apply at 5 lb / 1,000 sq ft and till or water/irrigate into soil before planting seed or laying sod.

Turfgrass

For professional turfgrass, apply 2-3 lbs/1,000 sq ft twice per year in the early spring and fall which should be broadcast prior to a rain or watered-in. This rate can be split and applied up to 4 times per year.

Golf Courses

Apply 2-3 lbs/1,000 sq ft twice per year in the early spring and fall which should be broadcast prior to a rain or watered-in. This rate can be split and applied up to 4 times per year. Applications to heavy traffic areas may help in turfgrass rigidity and rebound.

Ornamentals/Shrubs/Trees

Apply annually to all trees on ground surface under the drip line. Recommended application for trees:

Tree Base Diameter

Rate

< 10”

1 – 5 lbs.

10” – 20”

5 – 15 lbs.

> 20”

15 – 40 lbs.

Apply a light coating from the trunk out to the drip line. For ornamentals and shrubs, apply 1⁄2 lb. to 1 lb. to the soil around each plant and lightly till or water/irrigate into soil.

Compost

Add 50 -100 lbs of AZOMITE® per ton of compost, preferably at the beginning of the process. Use the higher rate for high value compost.

Soil Mixes

Add 7-12 lbs of AZOMITE® per cubic yard of potting soil during the mixing process.
