Improved nutrition and stronger plants

"The soil on both tomato test beds are similar in that we brought the nutritional level up to a 65% base saturation of Calcium, 15% Magnesium, 6% Potassium, and matched the minor nutrients as closely as we could – growing in a 6.4 pH. The difference is clear in the addition of AZOMITE® to the bed on the left. All plants were planted at the same time and receive water through an automatic drip system."

Sweet November winter greens, comin' in! 🥬🥬 Reposted from @savhydro (Savannah Hydroponics & Organics). It's an honor to be in their mix. 🌱 💚 "Raised Bed #5 Prep: We used marigolds as a cover crop in this bed between seasons and now it’s time to plant our winter greens! 🥬 After removing the marigolds, we found several harlequin bugs and pill bugs, so we applied neem seed meal and Sluggo Plus with spinosad to repel the pests before planting.
•
Amended with:
🐛 Neem seed meal 8-1-2 for slow releasing nitrogen and pest repellent
🐠 Blood meal 12-0-0 for extra slow realizing nitrogen for those greens 💪
🪨 Azomite for minerals to add flavor and feed the microbes
🔑 Humic acid for nutrient uptake
Stay tuned for the planting guide for this bed!"

If you're lucky, the crisp fall air inspires new projects. Lannie Armstrong of @gingerfootgarden came up with a modified raised bed version of Hugelkultur using available resources to fill up her @vego_garden raised beds with organic matter like cardboard boxes, paper, fall leaves, logs and twigs, garden debris, kitchen scraps, spent coffee, tea and crushed eggshells in this repost. Organic matter feeds the soil organisms, which in turn feed the plants. It's an honor to be in her mix. Raised bed: @vego_garden
Watering System: @garden_in_minutes
Retractable hose reel: @giraffetools.garden
Worm castings: @simplegrowsoil A few things to note: 1. This will settle eventually similar to how compost volume shrinks, requiring a refill. 2. The top most soil should be at least 6 inches so the plants will have enough room to grow while the organic matter breaks down. 3. I love adding amendments like worm castings, AZOMITE and alfalfa pellets because they are a good addition to the slow release fertilizer that’s already in the raised bed soil. Links and discount codes are in @gingerfootgarden's linkinbio's “Favorite Garden Products.” What’s your favorite way to fill a raised bed?
