Micronized
Micronized is a powder with flour-like consistency, where 90% of particles will pass through a 200-mesh screen. Micronized is ideal for blending in soil or applying directly when planting.
Field Grade
Field Grade mimics a coarse sand. Particle sizes range from 1/8” to powder for both rapid and longer-term results. Field Grade is designed for composting and blending with other products in application.
Granulated
Granulated is agglomerated into easy-to-handle granules with only a modest amount of dust. Applied to the soil, granules will break down over a week or two once irrigation hits.

@rudolph_farms_va`s soil blocking process is mesmerizing- and makes good gardening sense. After mixing up his signature soil mix, the blocking begins:
Reposted: I have three sets of soil block makers.
The mini does twenty 1/2” blocks. This is great for those lower germinating rate seeds. You are using much less of the soil mixture and and have a lot more possibilities to try and germinate with.
The standard does four 2” blocks. It has multiple simple inserts depending on what you are starting seed-wise. It also has a 1/2” square insert that will accept the mini blocks if you have germination success.
Lastly I have a bigger standard that does eight 2” blocks. It works the same as the other just does twice the number of blocks.
Why do I like soil blocks?
Prevents root bounding
Naturally air prunes roots
Not dealing with this flimsy plastic inserts
Helps with transplant shock
Allows me to see my entire block of soil and better determine if water is needed.
